the main objective of the project was to restore 100ha of forests and to protect 200ha of forest landscapes to KAYALA.
Thanks to the nursery which had been set up with the active participation of the population, 10,000 MUKOSO “mansamba” seedlings were produced. This quantity is sufficient to cover the planned space, i.e. 100ha.
Since March, the stage of distributing seedlings to 100 KAYALA households and planting them has been underway.
At present, 7000 seedlings have been distributed and planted and the process continues without stopping. The participants and my beneficiary community acquired useful knowledge regarding the protection and restoration of forest landscapes, following the multiple awareness-raising and training sessions from which they received.
They also benefited from the seedlings that were produced through the project's nursery. Thanks to these seedlings, in a few years they will be the owners of xhundreds or even thousands of trees in MUKOSO - MANSAMBA from which they will be able to draw substantial resources for food, housing and medicinal plants for the treatment of certain diseases.
