The creation of AGIR dates back to 2020. It is the result of observation and reflection on the socio-economic and humanitarian context of the Kasai area in the aftermath of the “Kamuina Nsapu” crisis, characterized in particular by: Generalized impoverishment of the population, particularly affecting women; a massive presence of unschooled and unemployed young people, without opportunities or prospects; a multiplicity of human rights violations and gender-based violence; the marginalization of women based on degrading customs and practices towards women and girls. the existence of multiple sources of tensions linked to intercommunity conflicts, land conflicts and customary conflicts: a massive presence of internally displaced people, etc.
